All students deserve a learning environment that provides them with opportunities to access and interact with the curriculum. With this whiteboard, students will be able to do this every day! Our current, now-defunct board does not allow them to interact with their learning using dry erase markers to underline/circle/mark up the text or much else. With this new resource, students will not only be able to interact with the literacy texts, but also solve math problems (so their peers can see and discuss strategies), interact with maps to learn geography, and easily visualize learning concepts taught. (I will be able to do a quick sketch!). This will have a huge impact on our learning environment.
My students love to learn through technology. While we are lucky enough to have access to Chromebooks (we share with another classroom), we do not have working headphones for all students. Many reading programs now have the option of read alouds that help struggling readers access grade level and high interest texts. These headphones will help them read to learn, even when reading is a challenge. Not only that, ebooks and other interactive sites help all students stay engaged and interested in what they are learning. The headphones with the microphones will allow students to record themselves reading (so they can hear and improve their fluency). These will also be used to help students with writing difficulties utilize the text-to-speech tool to express their ideas using Google Read & Write and more! What a difference they will make!
Thank you for helping our students better access learning!
