The magnet building blocks, Legos and supplies that I am requesting are to help implement hands-on learning at the beginning of the school day. Instead of having my students come into the classroom and work on a morning worksheet to start the day, I want to provide them with hands-on learning opportunities. These supplies support and connect to our science and math curriculum. The practice of students working collaboratively to create will better prepare them with opportunities to explore the supplies before using them with direct instruction. I believe that allowing students this collaborative time to work together will help them transition into the classroom in the morning, creating a welcoming, accepting, and collaborative classroom environment.
