I would like to teach my Sophomores this year using the award winning "Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kid. We do no have enough copies for each student to have their own copy to read and take home, and that is essential given the current concerns with Covid19. The story of Lily, a young teenager on a journey to find her identity despite the unrest of the 1960's in the south will resonate with my students at this time that also has its share of unrest. That will keep them invested, while we work on reading and writing and critical thinking skills that will benefit them far into the future.
