I've been looking for a good science program to use online. I've used Scholastic News in the past. It includes everything I would need to collaborate with my students. It is also cross-curricular, which is something I am always looking for in order to meet all of our standards in science, social studies, language arts, and math. Science Spin, a supplement to Scholastic News, focuses on science. There is a science experiment that is simple enough students can do it at home.
Scholastic News will save me lots of time scanning, clipping, copying and pasting, saving to different formats, etc. that makes distance learning so difficult and time-consuming for teachers. This leaves more time and energy for teaching!
The great thing is that our school purchased Chromebooks for our students last year. When we are able to come back to school in person safely, we will still be able to utilize Scholastic News in all of our subjects. By ordering online and paper issues, I can send home the issues and have students do the work online. This eliminates having students turn in work, thereby reducing the chance of the spread of COVID-19, as well as making it easier for parents.
