For the last 7 years, our students have had art instruction in their homerooms while I wheel an 鈥渁rt cart鈥 from class to class. This September, I am parking my cart and moving into a spacious sunny classroom!
We need to transform a bare classroom into a warm learning environment equipped with essentials for teaching and creating art. Our art room will provide a much needed physical and mental break from demands of their long academic day, a colorful oasis that celebrates multiple perspectives, where students can express themselves beyond words.
A bright colorful rug will give my students a place to begin and end each art class. This rug will be the centerpiece of our art learning community 鈥 a gathering spot where students discover artists from around the globe and throughout time, and a place to share their own creative work with their classmates.
It is essential to keep our space organized and clutter free to allow students to focus on their creative expression. A paper storage center will keep our watercolor, construction and drawing paper organized and ready for students creativity. My students LOVE to paint but those wet paintings need a place to go! A drying rack will safely protect and store their artwork until it is dry and ready to be placed in class folders.
Thank you for learning about our project and considering a donation.
