I want to provide a large assortment of books to read together as a class. I want to give my students the opportunity to listen to books being read, stories being told, and the emotions that the authors put into their books.
I want my students to learn how to love reading. I want to open up new worlds for them, so that they don't see opening a book as a daunting task that they dread every day. I want them to laugh, cry, and relate to the characters in these books. I also want them to learn that while books can be entertaining, they can also provide lessons that we can all learn from and be able to use in our daily lives. I want my students to be so engrossed in a book they don't want to put it down. I want them to read!
