Technology plays an important role in today's learning environment. While computers or laptops don't replace the hands-on learning experiences provided in my classroom, they are certainly a valuable supplement used daily as I differentiate instruction to meet the needs of every child. My school does provide laptops, but over the years many of them have been broken and are no longer in working order. Due to budgetary restraints, my school has not been able to replace the broken laptops, leaving students unable to participate in and/or complete important online learning opportunities such as iReady and the Accelerated Reader program. The six laptops that I am requesting would allow me to create a laptop center to be used during differentiated instruction, where students will be able to consistently use these engaging online resources to enhance their reading and math instruction and achieve learning gains.
