My students are an enthusiastic second-grade class at an elementary school in Canoga Park, California. The students primarily come from low-income families where English is not the main language spoken in the home. It is important to engage them on a visual level to support their vocabulary and concept development. Also, the majority of my students are boys and they in particular would benefit from increased visual instruction.
