The students in my school hail from an urban/suburban environment. We are in a small borough very near two large cities, so the students embrace city culture but live in a small world all their own. They all want to be superstars and unleash their creative potential on the world. They have big dreams and I want them to fulfill them - so let's start with their shoes!
My Custom Sneaker Design project will be a capstone project. Through the year, the students will learn about the visual elements - line, form, color, shape as well as the principles of design - pattern, unity, balance, emphasis. They will bring in an old pair of sneakers and with the acrylic paint and brushes that you provide, the students will apply their knowledge of the elements and principles to create a custom sneaker of their own.
