Fifth-grade social studies is jam-packed! We learn everything in American history from early exploration to the Civil War. I want to create a cozy classroom library and reading nook that engages students with a selection of books on these topics. Social studies can be a hard topic to engage adolescent students. Many of these materials can make topics like the American Revolution come alive to young readers. Furthermore, I am new to 5th grade and also need to provide grade-level appropriate books across ALL content areas for my students. Please help me create a richly diverse learning experience for my students who desperately need to foster their reading skills and knowledge of history to become informed and participating citizens in our world.
