Every teacher knows the struggle to cram as much learning as possible into one day! But, every teacher also knows that countless, priceless minutes are lost to the inevitable start of class shuffle: hand back graded papers, distribute parent letters, pass out lesson supplies, and, of course, repeat it all for whoever misplaced something in the process! These wasted minutes not only result in wasted paper and energy but wasted learning time as well! What if one single item could reclaim those hundreds of precious instructional minutes? Enter: the mailbox system. When a child walks through my door, he or she will head directly to the mailbox, retrieving graded papers, parent letters, and lesson supplies in one fell swoop! In mere moments, my entire class will be prepared to start the lesson! As the year goes on, this routine will become more and more efficient, allowing my students to truly take ownership of their learning time and no longer be subjected to painful paper passing.
