Since so many students in my school are English Learners, technology is an important and engaging avenue for them to access individualized learning. All of my students benefit from Imagine Learning, a program that is designed to help English Learners develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. One of the great aspects of this program is that students are able to speak into a microphone and listen to recordings of themselves reading, building their fluency in speaking and reading. Imagine Learning and other apps are so beneficial to all of my students, especially those who are nervous about speaking in front of their peers, or who struggle in other areas. Proficiency in technology allows these students to shine, and helps build their confidence. Many of my students ask to play math games on the iPads and computers during indoor recess, and they cheer each other as they answer math facts, building classroom community. Unfortunately, my classroom is not equipped with enough iPads and computers to give my usual classroom of twenty or more enough access to these amazing resources. I would love to add another iPad and the necessary headphones to enable every one of my students to access these fantastic learning opportunities every day. I would greatly appreciate your help in giving my kiddos more technology in their classroom!
