Being a first-year teacher, I am eager and excited to start this new journey! I truly believe that every child has the ability to be successful in the area of academics. However, before reaching academic success, trust and relationships need to be built. Based on past experiences, I believe the surrounding environment is one of the first stepping stones to a positive relationship.
Throughout my student teaching placements, I was faced with the unfortunate reality of students having traumatic backgrounds and lacking home lives; experiences that I have never encountered before. Unfortunately, these traumatic backgrounds are becoming more and more apparent in schools. I want to help my students overcome the traumatic events and become the wonderful citizens I know they can be. In order to begin to build these meaningful relationships and trust, I would love my future students to walk into the classroom and immediately feel comfortable and safe. I believe that all students will benefit from a warm and welcoming classroom.
