We are striving to do something new in the Pre-K world. This year we are going to be blending two classes into one fully inclusional sensory friendly environment that will promote learning through exploration. We are striving to meet the needs of all of our 27 Pre-K students by providing them with a new learning atmosphere. We will be blending our special education Pre-K class with a general education Pre-K class this year. Providing each student with a sensory friendly environment where each student can learn through exploration and play. We also hope to provide a kind, caring and compassionate classroom environment where friendship and acceptance are key. Help provide out students with ways to play and learn in a sensory friendly environment that is fully inclusional. Two of the main goals in a Pre-K classroom is to teach children how to appropriately play as well as how to make friends and deal with problems. These items are sensory friendly, colorful and inviting and will entice our developmental students to play as well as our typically developing peers which will provide all students with an opportunity to learn to play appropriately, take turns and be something that every one of our 27 students will be able to play with. Our Pre-K curriculum also explores problem solving and expressing emotions appropriately and with the aid of these items we will be able to entice our nonverbal and verbal students to request sensory time in a multitude of ways giving them more options to choose from than ever before and allowing them to learn through sensory friendly exploration.
