Scholastic News will allow my students to stay updated on current news and events throughout the world. My past classes have read about historical figures, global warming, the importance of voting, and oddly shaped foods (just to name a few). I love Scholastic News because all of these articles are written in kid friendly language on their grade level. The resource also has teacher resources to supplement their learning. These include close reading questions, writing prompts, and quizzes. The magazine subscription also includes online access, with games and videos related to the magazine topics. On top of all of this, the kids love these magazines... which leads to them loving to read nonfiction!
