Coming to the carpet and using whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math and reading. Having sit spots will ease the pain on where the students will sit. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the carpet with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is we don't have enough erasers for each student. It becomes a distraction when one person, with the eraser, is still coming up with an idea, but the other student needs the eraser. When we are not at the carpet, we are using Chromebooks or looking through Powerpoints. Having a Clicker will help tremendously, so I can walk around the classroom helping students while continuing the PowerPoint with no interruptions. Lastly, the dry erase pockets will be used for small-groups. My class is very hands-on and will be very thankful with any items!
