Stop fidgeting and get focused, is what I heard in school. Staying in one hard seat all day for all assignments is so difficult for most. Everyone wants to move and feel comfortable. By allowing students an opportunity to choose how they can best focus each day is extremely empowering for them. Flexible seating allows them to move around the room, sit at a different desk, with a wobble chair, on floor seats with clipboards, under tables, and on pillows.
Please help my students be able to move their bodies and sit in alternative, flexible seating so they can direct their energy and inquisitive minds on asking questions, researching and collaborating in the most comfortable way. With wobble chairs, balls, and floor seats, students can move around the room and work in the best place possible for them to be able to focus. I have found that when students have more control there is less behavioral issues and greater attentiveness and cooperation. This leads to more productive students and a happier environment for all.
