The materials and supplies I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go; we just need your help in getting everything through our door! The large carpet will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place to help build classroom community, peer relationships, and student teacher relationships. It will also be used during mini-lessons and time spent on independent, silent reading.
The lamps, chair and bean bags will also be used to create a comfortable environment in which my students will be excited to move to and begin adventures in all different types of books. The trash can will be transformed into a book return for my classroom library. Classroom librarian will be a job for a responsible student within my classes.
The donations to this project will help to create an environment my students are excited to be in, read in, and grow in.
Reading is the gateway to learning. I believe fostering a love for reading helps build successful students. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming lifelong readers.
