These comic books will show my students that there are many different forms of literacy in the world. There is some form of literacy that will interest them more than others and maybe many of my students will like more than one form. Our library is a place I try to make fun and exciting for learning. This is my 2nd year as librarian and I really want to promote literacy this year. I want to see a book in the hands of every student this year. I have planned a whole year of literacy themed events for each month of the year. My hope it to keep them reading all year long. Letting the stories take them places they never even dreamed of!
With these comic books my students will see that literacy is everywhere! Even in a comic book! The more they read, the more interest they will create. The more they read, the more they will learn and thrive. The comic books I chose will be language appropriate for all my K-8 students and be entertaining to them as well. The reading levels of most students are low, but they made good growth last year and I hope to keep that momentum going throughout the year.
