I plan to provide students with opportunities for them to mold their educational lessons to their interests but ensure that they are still comprehending the actual lessons being taught by creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. For me this requires that I connect with my students to understand what inspires them and to figure out strategic ways to implement lessons into their interests.
I want to be able to create a learning environment that allows my students to be as successful as possible. By having calming zone with a nice comfortable chair and a rug will allow my students to have a safe space to go when feeling overwhelmed. Some of my students are light and noise sensitive and by having different lamps on instead of a bright light can help calm their nerves.
These resources and sensory items will not only allow me to focus in on helping my students reach their goals on their Individual Education Program (IEP), but they would allow my students to feel comfortable and safe.
