Living in Los Angeles can be kind of like living in a bubble. We see what’s happening outside, but it doesn’t always affect our day to day. 1984 is a warning shot every high schooler should read. My students would greatly benefit from this book by seeing how forced conformity can lead to a dystopian society that will negatively affect everyone even if it was set up with the best of intentions. Sometimes things done with the best intentions have the worst consequences. My students will understand these concepts, and so much more, through reading 1984.
All I ask is for some help in securing this book for my students. Your donation will be remembered for years to come. Each book donated will be used to teach at least five students over the next five years. If one hundred people donate one book, they are contributing to the education of over five hundred teens in Los Angeles!!
