Intentional curation of diverse books in classroom libraries ensures that students not only see themselves reflected in the literature, but provides a platform for learning that is not limited to a single, dominant narrative. This project supports the ongoing cultivation of a broad range of accessible literature in the classroom for students to enjoy. Many of them share with me that they don't have easy access to books and often go without any new books in the home.
Our school vision is to create a positive, caring environment for educating successful learners through high quality instruction. Our ESL classroom library is a celebration of all the many ways people from all over the world have contributed in positive ways, including through science, math, art, music, sports, poetry, travel, science and civic engagement. By providing a free classroom lending library, students can take home books each week to read and explore as they continue to develop and strengthen their literacy skills.
