As a first-year teacher, I need your help to create an engaging, rich classroom library that matches the diversity of my students. Although some books can be found at second-hand stores, these stores often lack enough new and interesting inventory to substantiate an entire classroom library. Your donation will be used to purchase new, award-winning texts that captivate student interest and add sparkle to my classroom catalog.
Studies have shown that allowing student choice in reading activities boosts second language acquisition and refines fundamental reading skills. In order to capitalize on these benefits for both English Language Learners and native English speakers, my students need to have opportunities for choices that pique their interest. Books in my classroom library will be used for a myriad of activities, including small reading groups, guided reading lessons, classroom read-alouds, and free choice reading. Help me establish a collection of books that increases engagement and deepens student learning!
