Having an iPad will make a difference in my students’ learning by exposing them to technology that they otherwise would not be able to access. Obtaining the audiobooks will provide a much needed update to my classroom library. With the iPad, students will be exposed to web applications that will both strengthen their reading comprehension skills and create a virtual conduit to advanced learning. Even more, this iPad and the audiobooks will also be used as platforms for collaboration with other students - both in their classroom and in other parts of the country. In the classroom, the students will be able to collaborate more effectively in their small groups and centers. In these settings, they could explore virtual and audio learning immediately and engage in an individualized learning experience of the real world. For students using the iPad, this is especially true for students who are primarily visual learners. The earlier the students are exposed to technological devices (e.g. desktop computers, laptops, tablets, audiobooks, etc.) in a learning environment, the more likely they are to be successful in higher grade levels. As communicated above, this iPad and these audiobooks will be used as critical components to their academic success.
