As a school counselor, I teach counseling class to all classrooms, all grade levels, one day a week. I want my students to be able to keep track of their development. I am starting a project that involves the use of an interactive journal to keep track of learning. Students have school counseling standards and goals to meet and they would benefit from the ability to self-reflect throughout the year.
Worksheets get tossed out as quick as they get sent home, but a school counseling journal program allows students and me, a chance to review the social, emotional, and academic goals students have been working on throughout the year, and a method for reviewing their development throughout the course of their elementary school career as well. I am so excited to begin this project with students, as it will also be utilized as a self-reflection tool and personal journal-- both so important in school counseling.
