The purpose of all these wonderful supplies is to provide my students with a safe and inclusive space they can call home when they enter the classroom. When my students first walk in, the first thing they will see is the tree carpet in order to have community circle every day and foster an environment of inclusion and establish classroom culture. It is important to note, the rug is nature themed on purpose to intentionally create a holistic environment where our living things are respected and valued in and outside the classroom. To the right of the tree rug, students will see a table for small groups and one on one tasks. The decorations, including bins, charts, folder whiteboards, crayons, colored pencils, floor pillows, and arts and crafts will generate a positive and warm home like feel. Students can use the carpet or floor pillows for silent reading time using our classroom selection of books. Silent reading time is crucial to student's academic success because statistically overall test score increase.
By donating to our classroom, you are supporting the holistic student and aiding in educational equality for a classroom in a public school setting where resources are not allocated equally. It is vital that my students are able to learn effectively, which essentially means classroom tools are a necessity.
