Reading to students is the best way for first graders to learn new words and concepts. They love to listen to reading. The books will enhance the lessons and build on their learning. Read alouds are a great way for students to learn new concepts. The books will build on their vocabulary and they will learn about the world around them. My first graders love to hear me read aloud to them. It keeps them engaged in their learning.
