Asking students to sit throughout a lesson is a lot to be expected. It can be very difficult for students to stay focused during a 45 minute lesson, especially second graders.
I have selected different types of flexible seating to help students focus, exert energy, and move while learning. This type of seating can also help students calm down when they are feeling frustrated.
Flexible seats will be used to replace standard chairs and students can chose what type of seat they would like to sit in. These seats will also be utilized during independent work and students can take their seats and move around with them in the classroom.
