Our themes throughout my units are about identity, culture, and being tolerant of those who may be different than us. Students first look at what identity means, how culture affects identity, and finally how we can be tolerant of other cultures and promote social justice and equality.
Students will be exploring their own identities through art and written expression. For this reason I have included artistic supplies as well as basic supplies needed for the written pieces of their projects.
When it is all said and done, I plan on having a display of their artwork throughout the year. I will have students do one final "review" piece. They will be required to reflect on one of their own, and review one of their peers artistic projects.
