My students all have Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) which include parent incarceration, domestic violence, death of a close family member, sexual and physical abuse, etc. These make them at risk for chronic health problems, early death, and intense behavioral problems. Their behavioral problems make it difficult for them to socially interact with their peers.
Having a TV and other accessories to use gaming systems will increase their problem-solving and teamwork skills in a safe and motivating way! Students will have to work together to solve problems to overcome challenges in the games. Ultimately, these items will be used as our school's PBIS model for students to earn time on the gaming systems for good behavior. This has been proven to be one of the most effective incentives for our students!
