One of the most impact-able factors of our student's life is the food they eat. This guides their daily life and how they interact with their learning. The idea of this course is for the students to start to look at the products that they eat in a different way. We live in a county that is very diverse within the agricultural products and within the agricultural program we discuss a lot about the commodities within the field but there is a big gap within the connection of how those products become the food they eat. So through the food science program, the students will break down the factors that revolve around food science from the introduction to the industry, the chemistry of food science, the safety around the industry, processing, nutrition, marketing, and then they will develop their own product. This class will take part in two environments, the kitchen and the laboratory; this is to draw a connection to the science behind the products that we buy within the store. The items that this project is funding is for the development of our science laboratory to have the proper glassware that is just for the food science usage and allows the students to have enough to run individual test and get more hands-on experiences with the procedures and protocols of a food science laboratory.
