I would like to bring play back to my K/1 classroom. Each day students will have time to explore interest centers, including a dramatic play area. I would like to add a baby doll and accessories to this area.
Studies show children learn best through unstructured social play. Caring for a baby doll will help students practice social skills, develop self-regulation, empathy, and responsibility.
Our student population does not generally have access to opportunities for social play at home. Many students report spending all of their free time on technology and as a result are missing out on these important childhood experiences.
