The books I am requesting will become a start to building a better classroom library. My goal for this library is to help the students form a deeper desire to read and build their comprehension skills by giving them more books to choose from.
Students deserve book options and differentiation based on their interests. So many students in the past have lost interest in the books in my current library, making it difficult to encourage them to read at home. By sparking their interest and catering towards their individual needs with particular levels, my hope is that more students will be excited to read, not only at school, but away from it as well. Many of the students at my school are unable to obtain books or resources to push their learning at home and having these books available to check out in my classroom, will give them the opportunity to practice their reading skills nightly without the stress of having to buy books themselves.
So often, students are expected to learn certain concepts and are not able to just explore topics and their imagination. I want to open up a world of books, whether its fiction or non-fiction, in order to let their minds wander into the possibilities of reading and writing. With your help, we can build their love for reading and keep them excited about books for years to come!
