These read aloud books that I have chosen for my students all have life lessons that young readers can understand. Reading to children is one of the many ways to bond with them while also helping them grow as avid readers. Read alouds allow teachers to model what star readers do when reading independently. Most importantly, read alouds teach many life skills within the story line. I love seeing all of the suspense that builds while we wait to turn the page. My students beg me to do read alouds and there are times when a read aloud is needed to provide an educational break away from the curriculum, while still allowing opportunities to tie the curriculum into the story - making a bigger impact on students learning.
