Lego Robotic kits are needed for my students to participate in a STEM club as well as FIRST Lego League events. Currently there are no after school clubs for the students to join geared towards STEM, specifically robotics. We are always emphasizing the need for students to have 21st century skills, this club would be a step in the right direction. Not only would the students be introduced to robotics and programming, but they will also develop skills in problem solving, collaboration, and communication. Participation in FIRST Lego League events will give the students an opportunity to show their special talents and share their accomplishments. The Lego Robots will bring together those students who enjoy technology, problem solving through discovery and innovation, building with Legos, and having fun with other students with similar interests. The addition of a STEM club will reach a new group of students and allow them to demonstrate their ability to work together, discover, problem solve and have fun. Participation in FIRST Lego League will give them an opportunity to not only compete, but share what they have learned and what they were able to accomplish when they worked together as a team.
