My hope is that we can provide blazers and ties for my young men. The scholarly dress code will allow students to both feel better about themselves. While giving them the opportunity to excel and help their counterparts excel in both the classroom, and in society. As students grow so will the program allowing more and more students to become a part of Conner's Corner.
While there won't be a specific lesson plan in place we will be using the PBIS model allowing students to be rewarded for their positive behaviors. This will hopeful propel other students to mimic what is being modeled by our core group of students.
The learning outcomes is in line with the whole child mindset. We have to educate our young men how to respond in different atmospheres. There are different expectations at different times, and the expectation is that our young men know when to behave accordingly.
The goal is to support the whole child mindset, not just on an educational model, but the overall student must be molded into positive citizens in order for us to Rise. Because we realize that when the whole child is able to rise, then we all rise.
The hope of Conner's Corner is to promote unity as well as convince students to help one another. This will improve both the climate and culture within the entire building while teaching valuable lessons to the students within the program.
