While the head phones, crayons, pencils, and pencil pouches I have asked for may seem basic, many of my students show up to school the first day with only smiles and an eagerness to learn. I am headed into my third year of teaching, and for the past two years I have paid for these supplies out of pocket.
By helping me provide these supplies for my students you are giving them a safe and welcoming environment to begin learning. They won't have to worry about what they do or don't have, they won't have to compare themselves to others. They won't feel anxiety about coming empty handed. They will come in to a welcoming environment, as equals having the same opportunities as everyone else.
