I am a first year teacher so there are many things that I need to help me create a classroom environment that is safe and nurturing. Creating a nurturing classroom helps students social, emotional, and educational needs. I want my students to have an inclusive, warm, and welcoming classroom environment to enter in every day. With your help, I will be able to create a space where as a class, we can come to gather for morning meetings, discussions, and restorative circles. Creating a nurturing classroom helps promote a sense of security and comfort. When students gather on our carpet, there will be collaboration, acceptance, and connections. We will use this carpet in our daily morning meetings to set the tone of trust, support, and encouragement. This project also includes a floor lamp and trio chimes. Lighting in the classroom is a factor in the brain's ability to focus. Lighting goes beyond just increasing the mood of the classroom, it helps students academic performance as well. The trio chime will be used in classroom management. It is used as an attention getter that is calm and peaceful. It allows time for children to calm down and recenter their focus.
