I am a teacher for an elementary self contained special education class in Houston, Texas. I have 12 students in my class who struggle with cognitive disabilities and the inability to speak. They all have the ability to learn and be productive with specialized instruction. Each one of these students are two or three years behind their grade level peers.
My students will use the tablets to improve reading comprehension, recognize letters, spell words, recognize colors, recognize shapes, learn about weather, count money, tell time, and much more. We will be able to download many helpful learning applications. Many of the lessons and assignments can be read to them. Currently, our school is unable to provide the number of tablets needed for each student to have his/her own.
