My classroom is an intervention room. We use our class time together for multiple purposes that allow for cross-curricular learning, in addition to a way to ensure success in their other classes. We oftentimes are focused on different learning goals while in one room. My students have the option to flexibly sit around the room and work in a comfortable location to allow for their best learning environment.
Students learn in a variety of ways and styles. By creating an environment that is flexible and engaging, we are able to meet more learners at their levels. This also promotes an individualized learning environment and allows for students to have a better understanding of how they best learn.
We use chalk tabletops to solve mathematical equations, build sentence stems and frames for summarizing information, create organizational webs, and more! My students are respectful of the space and understand that with our environment we need to use our resources wisely. Even with this, however, we run short on our chalk and paint pens as they are commonly used. Having additional supplies will allow us to continue our learning progress.
