Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to choose areas of the classroom where they feel the most comfortable to read and work. I've been using flexible seating in my classroom for many years but would love to give my students more options. Many of the flexible seating options we currently have are worn out.
Flexible seating helps students be more engaged in independent work but also allows them the freedom to move around and collaborate with others. The chairs we have now are metal and very heavy, this makes them hard for students to move around when working with groups. I want to give my students other seating options that are both comfortable and easy to move for collaboration.
Our rug has seen better days and the students spend a lot of time on it. We use our rug for whole group learning, dancing for brain breaks and they will curl up on it when reading a book. I'd love to give my students a fresh clean rug since they spend so much time on it.
