I am requesting materials to help my students in 3 different areas they need. First, scholastic news will allow my students both hands on and digital access to grade level appropriate non-fiction text. Topics including current events, science and social studies will give my students a wide variety of non-fiction text exposure.
Second, I am requesting place value math games and manipulatives for hands on math learning. Due to the pandemic, many of my students are lacking skills in and struggling with place value. These materials will give them the opportunity to practice these skills in small groups or individually utilizing hands on materials.
Lastly, I am asking for social emotional writing prompt cards. Being at home for the past year has had a huge impact on my students social and emotional well being. They are struggling with handling and expressing their emotions as well as getting along with their peers and problem solving conflicts. My hope is to use these writing prompts to guide discussions and get kids thinking about their social emotional health and help them to work on improving those skills.
