This project will allow for our classroom to have a classroom iPad and stylus pen. There are so many uses for classroom practices in being able to utilize an iPad. With a classroom iPad comes so many opportunities for digital production of writing, iMovie for unique presentations, apps for developing coding skills and a variety of useful tools for supporting individual learners. This project will allow me to create opportunities for students to learn how to solve problems and apply learning in meaningful ways.
The need for positive learning experiences in a 21st century classroom are ever present. Educators must evolve in our practices to meet the needs of the wide array of learners in our classrooms. However, technology and tools must be used effectively and to promote empowerment of students.
In order to effectively support a variety of learners, we must provide students with positive learning experiences which promote critical thinking, collaboration and teamwork, and that are relevant to students. Our school is currently undergoing the process of STEM-certification. STEM-based teaching provides students opportunities to use technology in a strategic way. Through the use of technology as a platform for learning, it is my goal to empower students to work through problems. Our classroom iPad will help our classroom specifically in STEM, serving as a tool for publishing work in Engineering Design Process (EDP) projects.
If we want a society where our future leaders and workers can solve complex problems, and meet the needs of an evolving workforce, building students' skills in technology is essential.
