I would like to provide each of my students their own annual subscription to the "Scholastic News" Magazine and "Science Spin" Magazine, 100 Words workbook, and Math skills workbook. I have used these magazines for the past 3 years in my classroom and have found that the students not only love them but are super engaged and inspired by the developmentally appropriate topics and format. It has been a struggle to get parents to provide funding for their student and I have been providing them each with a subscription from my own wallet. Many of the students in my class do not have access to reading material at home so these resources will be greatly appreciated. We plan to use these magazines to work on and read through together in class to gain familiarity, and then students will be able to take them home to read from for their 20-30 minutes of nightly reading at home.
