As a first year teacher there are so many wonderful tools in the world to help build your classroom. Unfortunately those tools come at a cost and take time to build up.
I would like to build the most amazing classroom for my first grade students. I am working on building up my reading library so my students have a variety of reading genres and levels to choose from. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. They complete work here and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time during our Daily 5 or free time.
As for the rug and white board, they already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where they will go and how they will benefit our room. The classroom rug will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place during mini-lessons, morning meetings and any other time we need to gather as a team. The white board will be used as a flex area for small group and our interactive calendar. I am hoping to to use these tools to create an organized environment and the best use of my space.
