Utilizing books and stories, we will explore our big feelings while learning how to self-regulate our emotions. Students will be provided with a safe place to learn about and explore ways to self soothe and calm down.
Through the use of multi-sensory techniques and materials, each individual student will be supported in discovering what works best for them: listening to music, playing with putty, sitting with a weighted blanket, watching a sensory bottle, etc.
Once the students are ready to return to work, they will complete a self-assessment (pictures for the pre-k/kindergarten students, short responses for the 1st graders) where they will reflect on what worked best for them, and how they are feeling. Students will be allowed to discover and explore with the guidance and support of myself.
