Students will use the books and book bags to help engage family members to share their love of reading. These books and book bags will be especially useful for students that do not have access at home to books and reading materials at their level. Students will be able to transport reading materials home and return the books so their classmates can also use them at home.
Beyond just engaging students in reading, my hope is that students will be able to spend some quality time with family members away from the "screens."We would love the opportunity to read more at home. Having books at our level would help us achieve this.
Sitting together as a class on our classroom rug is one of our favorite places in the classroom. It is a place where we feel most connected. Not only do we use our classroom rug for a central meeting location, but throughout the day students will use it a place to read and share ideas.
