I would like to designate an area of my classroom where my students can go to calm down when their the are struggling with sensory overload, emotional deficits, and simply need a time to cool off from the outside world. This item will provide an area that is safe and relaxing for my students and will help to meet all their needs. It will help build the social and emotional skills when needed.
This item can be used in many different ways. It can be used as a protective barrier so students do not get hurt by hard walls. It can also be used for students to lay down/sit down, and work on breathing when upset. Students can also use this item as a weighted cover where tension is then released and calming techniques are applied. It can also be used as an item that build social and critical thinking skills to build and use as needed.
