The supplies that I have selected are going to allow my students to bring their studies of biology and physical science to life. Sometimes science content can be seen as black and white or right and wrong. The classroom structure can be thought of as tedious notes, dense textbooks, clear beakers, and cold metal instruments. But in reality, science is as colorful and diverse as all the living things inhabiting our beloved planet.
Donations to this project will allow my students to learn science in ways that increase their access to rigorous content.
They love to learn by illustrating biological processes, cutting out models, decorating foldables, and drawing diagrams. The markers, colored pencils, scissors, modeling clay, and rulers will allow them to design visual representations of the content they cover in class. Colored paper, large sticky charts, tape, glue, and a storage container for all of these materials will further provide students with the necessary tools to create vibrant learning manipulative.
I have seen firsthand the major impact that design and modeling can have on my student's development as future scientists. By providing them with the tools necessary to push their imagination, my students will gain access to ideas that might at first seem complicated!
