Many of my students struggle with sensory disorders; therefore, this project would allow my students the sensory input that they need to get through the classroom day. Flexible seating simulation provides students the opportunity to process and focus. Students become proactive by calming and soothing themselves.
Flexible Seating in the classroom would empower my students to change location and position during work time without distracting others. Flexible seating supports quick transitions for working in pairs and small groups. Also, flexible seating promotes the community by encouraging students to choose and take turns. Students can gain a sense of ownership when flexible seating is used. Flexible seating-- "comfortable students are engaged students."
